Bexley Home Extension

Project Overview

The client’s grandparents built the original federation house in the 1920s after moving to the country and it has remained in the family for 3 generations. Renovations have transformed the original federation building in to a light-filled contemporary home. The original part of the house is now the private wing for bedrooms and the new section on the rear of the house was designed to accommodate up to 35 family members on occasions such as Christmas. Inside living room flooring is polished concrete with under-floor heating. The new wing opens up on to the deck, pool and paved courtyard.

CplusC custom-made a dining table to fit perfectly in the new dining area having acquired the 900-year-old jarrah timber slab from a supplier. Custom-made stools were designed and built by CplusC to compliment the table. In winter with the under-floor heating and thermal mass provided by the concrete floor, the house is very cosy, while in the summer months the house is cooled by the cross-breezes flowing over the pond in the courtyard and through the house.
