Current Work

We currently have some great projects under construction including alterations and additions in Alexandria, Glebe, Balmain and Annandale.

There are more exciting projects on the drawing board scheduled to begin construction in 2010 to 2011.

Glebe Residence

Proposed Alterations and Additions to an existing dwelling in Glebe involving preservation of the existing single storey facade, removal of the existing lean to addition to the rear, and the addition of a new single storey gable pavillion and garage to the rear of the site. The new pavillion contains the primary living space, kitchen, and dining area; with a new terrace and informal entry. A courtyard with pond is located centrally on the site, allowing for improved natural lighting and cross ventilation throughout the dwelling.

Balmain Residence

Proposed Alterations and Additions to an existing dwelling in Balmain, with the aim to improve the efficiency of circulation and create new opportunities for access to natural light and improved natural ventilation. The proposal preserves the existing double storey facade to the street, while opening up the internal spaces to the rear garden, with the removal of an existing double storey gable structure. A proposed Dining pavilion along the southern boundary opens directly to the outdoors, with the addition of a swimming pool, pond and associated landscaping.

Alexandria Residence

An inefficient existing addition to the rear of this house was dark and non-functional. Living spaces were disconnected and lacked fluidity. The concept for this project was as simple as letting light in, allowing the house to breathe and providing a functional and warm living space. The proposal was for a new pavilion wing to the rear to replace the existing lean-to addition.  Living spaces were connected a new bedroom was added as well as two bathrooms on a tight budget and lot size. An attic space was added to provide for an ample storage area. Bricks and pressed metal ceilings were salvaged during demolition and utilised in the new works creating a contemporary link to the past. A pond in the landscaping allowed for passive cooling in the Summer months and gentle reflections internally.

Annandale Residence

This project seeks to bring the ‘outside- in’ with strong gestures toward the surrounding garden and stepping topography. The interior of the existing detached home is to be removed- exposing the bare-bones of the hardwood framework and structural elements. The new living and kitchen form is to be inserted within this hollow; forming a stark contrast between the new, open plan living spaces and the grandiose, darker interior of the existing house. The use of demolished and excavated materials on-site for retaining walls and new masonry elements limits the impact of the project on local landfill. This careful approach to building materials and the existing structure, together with the harnessing of the natural elements of the site – will create a truly unique and functional family home for the clients.
