When an opportunity arose to design and build a house for one of the lecturers in the Architecture Faculty, a student, Clinton Cole responded to the challenge. The initial design of the house was developed in close consultation with the client, a qualified builder himself.
The design and construction processes were allowed to mesh together from day one. Design details were worked out together with the client and reflected a common respect for the materials involved and a keen understanding of the possibilities given the time and budget constraints.
The completion of the project triggered two more commissions, one from a neighbour who was attracted by the innovative solutions that were evident and the second from a classmate who called upon Clinton to use his experience to design and build his family’s country house.
Since 1996 the team has grown with the incorporation of like-minded professionals, suppliers, fabricators and tradespeople who share similar beginnings and a conviction to the advantages of a holistic approach to design and construction. The teams at CplusC are unique in their long-term vision of the design and construction industries working in unison.
The founding Director of CplusC, Clinton Cole, believes that the key to CplusC’s success is simple…to be a great design company requires more than the provision of traditional architectural services. To ensure that every project is built to the quality and cost that the client and designer expect when they first sit down to discuss the project, the designer must be in control of the construction process itself.
